About Tugar

Tugar has arisen from the wish to share with others the adventurous richness of Portugal. Despite the fact that I’m already here in Portugal for many years I still experience a sensation of being on holiday every time I step into nature. Wherever you are in Central or Northern Portugal, you’re only a few short steps away from fantastic natural settings. A short trip can transport you to long windswept golden beaches or into the midst of a beautiful and rich variety of wildlife surrounded by lush greenery, rocks, rivers, natural swimming pools, waterfalls and tranquillity.

Through the years I’ve met a lot of people who love to spend their free-time in a kayak, raft or with a bag full of ropes ready to climb or abseil in explorations of Portugal’s wilder elements.
They have shown me all the beauty this land has to offer. It’s that experience I would like to share, so that others are able to experience this richness and thus become aware of all the beauty available so close at hand.

I would also like to share my idea of how we can enjoy this beauty whilst at the same time contributing to the preservation of these places so that we’re able to integrate with the nature in a well balanced way.
That’s why Tugar works with small local enterprises and projects which use local guides whom have built up years of experience in outdoor activities.
