The canoe tours
Tugar offers tours on the Paiva River. The river is a whitewater river in winter months but in summer it is a calm river with some rapids. Each canoe has space for two people. This also makes this activity very suitable for families with younger children.
Tugar works with local guides who have years of experience guiding participants. They make sure everyone can enjoy the adventure with safety naturally coming first.
Our guides provide the materials and equipment. All you need to bring is swimwear and shoes that can get wet.
The Arouca Geopark
This geopark is known for its breathtaking landscapes and unique geological formations that are millions of years old.
One of the most striking features of the Arouca Geopark is the imposing Paiva Gorge, also known for Portugal’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge, Ponte 516. The suspension bridge connects with the wooden footbridges that stretch for 8 kilometres and offer spectacular views of the Paiva River and the surrounding nature.
In addition, the Arouca Geopark is home to rare geological phenomena. Such as the Pedras Parideiras and the Mizarela waterfall. The park also has rich flora and fauna.
